Is it better to go to a private high school or just attend a public high school?

For college, I mean. There's a private high school in my state, and it doesn't cost money, but you have to apply, be tested, etc. I might apply next year. If I get accepted, does it look better [for college] that you got into a private high school? Or do they just regard you along with everyone else?

And do you have an equal shot at a good college in a public high school?
