Is it better to be aware and wonder about life and death...?

In my point of view, if you don't know about death grieve it's occurrence, then how can you appreciate life? On the other hand, shouldn't death be appreciated because it is a new challenge, a new feeling, a new everything? And also, if there's no death, would there be no life? If there is no light, is there a dark?

or, just avoid/ignore anything too insightful?

I'm beginning to think about my parents getting older and how I'll need to take care of them. My relationship is at an all time high with them, partly because I've matured and also because I have always been very insightful...always wanting to learn or find answers to questions.

My friends (we are all in our late 30s) don't delve deep like me. Things happen and they are devastated. My dog died recently. It's tough, but I know it's a part of life. My friend told me, "I'm going to tell my dog to die after me."
