Is it bad to shift a 2 stroke dirt bike in the powerband?

Of course not, you want to keep a 2 stroke in the power band at all times. If you allowed it to fall out of the power band before shifting that would be bad, not to mention making you very slow. Listen to someone racing a 125 or smaller 2 stroke, you will never hear a fast rider come out of the power band.
