Is it bad to redline honda engines?

The faster an engine runs the more the rod bearings get pounded. Remember that those pistons are flying up and down at incredible speeds.

The more the rod bearings get pounded, the closer the day when the engine starts burning oil and the more the chances of throwing a rod.

Ok so i've always heard that revving the engine past 5000 rpm's will ruin your engine but i am looking into buying a honda with jdm engine swap like a b16 or b18 something like that. I hear that they start redlining at 8000 rpms and vtec kicks in at 5500 rpms. Does that mean it is fine to drive a honda vtec engine past the 5000 rpm range???
