is it bad that i found myself in a bidding war without having a limit please answer?

ok so i found a hockey card that i was interested in and watched it for a couple day and bid on it and up until this morning i had the winning bid and then i was outbid so i raised my bid again and then it grew closer to the end of the auction and then i was outbid and found myself rasing the bid even higher but had i not ran out of time i would have kept going higher does this sound like a problem or something normal
