By dead arm I mean my entire arm, from the fingers all the way up to the shoulder has absolutely no feeling, and I can't move it whatsoever. This lasts for several seconds before feeling returns. This happens a lot to me and it freaks me out every time. I'm just afraid that this may be causing some permanent damage over time, especially since I'm certain that when this happens I've been sleeping on the arm for hours before noticing it had died.
btw, I try to sleep in positions to avoid this, but often times the most comfortable sleeping positions are positions that cause this problem. My question isn't about how to prevent it, it's just whether or not it can cause any permanent damage over time.
