Is it against the law to flash headlights, warn of a speed trap?

I've heard it is. I've heard it isn't. What's the deal?

I'm driving. I pass a speed trap. People are coming on the other lane. I flash my brights to warn them of the trap they're about to pass.

Legal or not?
