Is it a sin to not wear a helmet on a bicycle if it is against your state's helmet laws?

Would I be sinning if I rode my bike and didn't wear a helmet (assuming that I am breaking my state's helmet law). What if I was just riding around my neighborhood? What if I was riding further?

(I have read that it is a sin to break the law, and I am pretty sure it is. But, what about in a case as minuscule as mine?)

Don't be silly. Who has taught you the idea that not obeying civil law is a sin? You should wear a helmut out of COMMON SENSE for your own safety. God won't judge you one way or the other any more than God would judge you for the color of the pants you wear, the kind of shoes you wear or the books you read. In fact, God isn't into judging anything you do, think or say. So if I were you, I would wear that helmut, because your personal safety is YOUR responsibility - take care of that body of yours - only YOU can do that.
