Is it a heart problem or not??

That's the question the Dr speculated this morning. I had a horrendous bloody nose the night before which was still dripping this morning so my work told me to go to the Dr.

My blood pressure which is usually 130/70 was over 200. The dr. wasn't pleased and concerned.

I'm 55, with no heart issues in my family history. Why would I have a blood pressure reading over 200? I didn't ask what the lower # was but I doubt it was very good.

Maybe it's just stress............:dizzy:

I went back to my 5th graders with a Rx for my sudden high bp. I will take a stress test next week. My actual bp reading that day was 204/112.

seriously,i would have your kidney functions at least checked out at this point. our kidneys, among other things are what really truely govern our BPs at the very basic level by the release of a chemical called renin. this could possibly be some level of kidney problem that is creating this for you. at the very least, considering the very real connection to BP and kidneys, your doc should have run some basic labs on those kidneys while you were there. also running a UA on your urine to look for traces of protien would indicate whether or not you actually could have an underlying kidney disease you just have not been aware of as it has not actually "shown itself' yet. i did not find out i actually was born with a kidney disease til age forty and that only was found out because our youngest son became deathly ill and we had to be tested for the same thing he has that triggered it.

when someone like yourself simply out of the bluse one day "presents' with what you did, every possible reason/connection to what could casue high BPs needs to be looked into. the kidneys really do play a very big part in regulating BPs,therefore, your doc should at the very least,be looking into that for you. there IS a definite reason for what you experienced,it will just take time and testing to actually find that root cause. but i would be pushing your doc at this point for some testing and answers. you DO deserve that much from someone who is actually working FOR YOU,ya know? good luck to you with this, hopefully your BPs will get more back to normal for you soon. but you do need to find out whats up,soon. please keep us posted.
