Is it a good idea for Saudi Arabia to produce more oil?

In a world with rising gas prices it seems like a good idea. Sure it will reduce gas prices, but it wont help our dependance on oil. It seems like the middle east is worried about funding thier next terrorist attack since most of the funding for them comes from Saudi Arabia. We are basically fueling Islamic extreamist indirectly, and it will divert us from continuing to develop alternative fuels. They have figured out how to put a choke hold on one of the most "powerful" countries in the world. So who's smarter?

In the ST yes, Long term ---- NO!

Immediate response should be to pour money into looking for alternative sources, which is NOT happening, for obvious reasons. Instead new nuclear power stations have been proposed(as very few people can also make a lot of money).

Unless Corporate influence is eliminated you can bet on it prices will continue to rise. When the policies are shaped in such a way, so that very few people remain rich & influential, overwhelming majority must pay a heavy price.

If their is a WILL there is a WAY!

US has the most advanced technology in the world, there is no doubt if there was a WILL, we'll have a viable alternative source within next ten years!
