I knew i was going to be in the marching band but had no flipping idea that i'd have to take band camp over the summer, i just heard word about it last week and called the high school im going to and they confirmed it, im nervous as ****! Im coming to high school as a freshman. The band camp is for 10 days 8 hours a day a few weeks before school actually starts, does anyone know if band camp is one of those things where you actually like " live " there / sleep there? Like am i going to be sleeping in the gym at night and by day work on band and stuff? Or is it where im there for 8 hours learning my stuff and getting uniforms and crud and then coming back home?

Btw I'll be doing percussion and i have no clue what I'm going to play, ive done percussion at middle school but i just dunno, are they gonna randomly assign me a percussion instrument or wat?

wow u r clueless... there for 8 hours learning my stuff and getting uniforms and crud and then coming back home prolly... they'll prolly test different drums on ya.

Whatever, you will be at school, you will go home every day, they will give you percussion if you ask for it. You will practice inside if it is really hot, and outside if it is cool. You will practice marching drills etc.. And, I think you may do some fun stuff too.

It depends on your highschool if you'll be sleeping at the camp. and Don't worry! its great. You'll just be learning and having fun during your camp. It'll all be over sooner or later

I was friends with tons of band kids at my high school and they always would talk about how much fun they had during the summer at camp. It does depend on your high school if you will be staying overnight, however I wouldn't be worried. If you're involved in a group like that, that begins even before the school year, you are more likely to become more of a group of friends that will last not only through the camp week, the season, or the semester, but friendships that will last through your entire high school experience.
