Is Handball a popular sport around the world and if so, why is it popular?

I know there's different variants of the game Handball. I've saw a few and I was wondering why Team Handball isn't as popular over here in the states. It's strange, if you ask me.
 
YES, it is. it's very popular in Europe, Asia, Africa, and even South America! I do not know why nobody has an idea what handball is in the states..
Why it's popular? Just watch one of the handball games. They're very entertaining to watch!
