According to my English teacher and her dictionary, feces is singular, while faeces is plural. And I don't even think faeces is a real word. Even Yahoo.Answers pops up with a "Oops! It looks like you have 1 misspelling" when I type it. I have the newest edition of the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, and it says that feces is plural, while fecal is singular.
My teacher took off 10 points from my essay just because I put that the river basin was polluted with feces, not faeces. Is she right? I think feces is plural, while fecal is singular. She thinks feces is singular, while faeces (pronounced "faces" according to her). To me, an 85 is not "okay", especially when it's over the word "feces".
