According to my English teacher and her dictionary, feces is singular, while faeces is plural. And I don't even think faeces is a real word. Even Yahoo.Answers pops up with a "Oops! It looks like you have 1 misspelling" when I type it. I have the newest edition of the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, and it says that feces is plural, while fecal is singular.
My teacher took off 10 points from my essay just because I put that the river basin was polluted with feces, not faeces. Is she right? I think feces is plural, while fecal is singular.
