So here's the story: In my college History class, we were assigned to watch Red Tails and write a summary about it for extra credit on my Exam. THe problem is that Red Tails is not playing in the theaters anymore and the DVD comes out after school is out and I really need the extra points. Now, in an act of desperation, I asked myself "Why don't I download it? I've downloaded SO many movies that are old, music, but I've never downloaded a movie that was not out on DVD yet." So, I said why not? And I did! But, about not even a week later, I receive a letter from my cable company stating that what I was doing is illegal, considered to be pirating, and to please stop. It had the file name, the date, and even that it was copyright infringement. I was completely shocked because I've never received a letter and out of all that I've downloaded.
I could really use some knowledge for this issue. First off, I am never doing that again, but can I still download music? I use uTorrent for my downloading and I need to know if I can continue downloading things like music, classic movies, as long as it's not a brand new thing that is still in movies or in process of coming out on DVD. Thank you all for your time.
