Ok here is the situation My mom and dad got into a fight and they were both drinking and my mom went to sleep and my dad hit her with a dresser drawer and she was bleeding so she had to go to the hospital she ended up getting like 9 stitches. The doctor called the cops and they took pictures of her she said she fell but then she told the truth (that her husband hit her). So later the cops went to talk to my dad but he told them he didn't want to talk to them and the cops said there going to come back with a search warrant. My question to you is how long will my dad get in jail and will it be a misdemeanor or felony my dad has been in jail before for suspended license but never domestic violence. I am just worried about my dad my mom said she is not going to prosecute but will the DA still pick up the case what do you think is going to happen? the cops still haven't got my dad it has only been one day but my dad is just home is he going to jail for a long time?
Is Domestic Violence a Felony or Misdemeanor is there jail time if so about how long?
