I'm 19 and confused about what i want to do :S
my friends want me to go back to school (i was kicked out of college for bad marks...i just wasn't able to compete) and my mom suggested I take a dog grooming course to pay back my student loan and save up some money for school.

sure.. my moms a dog groomer.
u need comitment and u absolutly have to love dogs. If your gonna get mad easily or get discusted then you might want to choose a differnt carrer. I work with her sometimes and theres some pretty narsty dogs out there.:S Also.. anle glans, depending on if you want to u might have to squeeze them. Not very apatising i must say.. good luck.

i think that if you want to be a dog groomer, and you have the attention to detail and love for dogs that is required, then thats all that should matter. dog groomers can make some pretty good money if they are good, and that is a buisness that you can do with out a store, although id start in one first.

dog grooming takes a special skill. put in applications at grooming shops, tell them you would like to eventually learn one day how to groom dogs. you'll quickly find out while you're working for someone if you have what it takes to be a groomer. If you think you can, ask the person you are working for or other grooming shops if they will teach you. You'll be lucky if someone teaches you for free. I started 5 years ago, i was hired as a groomers assistant, quickly learned how to groom dogs, and now, i've been at the same shop for 5 years, make good $$, and love what i do. the only way you'll make enough $$ to pay back student loans is if you are good, then you get a grooming job where you have your own clientele.
