Is discipline a taboo word these days - should we just drop it and allow

children to do just as they please? Funnily enough it worked for me and my boys - they wore what *I* decided was best for them,had neat and respectable haircuts and generally treated adults (including and especially their Grandparents) with respect and took their feelings and judgements into account when dressing up to visit them.
No more it seems so why don't we just abandon the whole concept of disipline and obediance as regards our children?
