I was bitten by the photography bug during a time when the only thing digital was a watch or an alarm clock. We didn't have instant gratification. Well unless you count Polaroid. Even so, this ability to whip out a device the size of a deck of cards and snap dozens of photos with no thought process involved seems to me to be partly at fault for creating this photography subculture. Does the idea of instant satisfaction play a part in all of this? Would these people be "into photography" if they had to wait days or weeks for film?
