Is David Stern the worst commissioner in sports history?

The past several seasons put a spotlight on one of the most arrogant men in sports: David Stern. While you do not come into a position like Stern’s without some level of arrogance, recent events place him a step above:

-The suspension of Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw during the Suns/Spurs playoff series interfered with the outcome of the series. Never has thugery been so rewarded. Horry should have sat for the rest of the playoffs, not for two games. The penalty did not fit the crime.

-More importantly, where was Stern when the Los Angles Lakers became the Memphis Lakers? It was not so long ago that a commissioner would have had the testicular fortitude to reject the trade that brought Pau Gasol to the Lakers as against the competitive interests of the game. Where was Stern?

Is Stern a non-commissioner? Is he the worst ever?
