Is communication necessary for a healthy relationship?

I am currently friends with a girl I also have a crush on. When we first started hanging out, she kept visiting me and communicate with me daily. After hanging out with her for two months and running out things to say to her, I feel content not to say anything to her while we hung out or on the phone. I told her that we didn't have to say anything after she told me that her and other guy friend do not talk at all and she likes her friend because of that. However, she then told me that not talking isn't part of my personality. I was stunned because I was known to some as being too quiet; even though I told her that, she said that it is because the other people talk too much, which in a way is true. Although I love to talk at times, I believe that I talk to my female friend a lot is because I am afraid the conversation would end and that things would end up being boring; I would talk even though i ran out of things to say. The point I am trying to make, do communication results in a healthy friendship or is it possible not to communicate at all, yet still maintain a healthy friendship?
