Is civilization worth saving?

pessimists suggest that when oil peaks this could be the end of civilization since virtually everthing depends on cheap oil (resort back to the dark ages).. maybe a bit extreme but go with it. Wheather or not its too late, is civilization worth saving? if not, why? if yes, how?
 
What is today called "civilization" is not worth saving. The sooner we return to the "dark ages" the better off we all will be.
