Is Christianity a Farce?

Well I know many will disagree, but Christians, explain this if you can: Virtually every aspect of Christ's "origin" story had been assimilated from a dozen older historical sources to formulate Christ's "new" story. We may as well call it plagiarism!

Ancient Egyptian mythology is a classic example, the similarity between Jesus and Horus...coincidence? I think not! Similarities can also be found in ancient Greek and Mesopotamian Mythology, as well as Buddhism. And lets not forget to mention the impact old pagan beliefs had on this new and improved religion. In 2000 years time will Jesus be considered part of mythology, along with Isis, Horus, Osiris? I am inclined to believe so.

One last thing, Christianity is only 2000 years old, consider that Egyptian mythology reigned for over 3000 years. They too had a long standing faith in what they believed, and now to us it is nothing more than a fairy tale.

There is one small matter you are missing in your comparison. Your statement that Christianity is only 2,000 years old and was assimilated from a dozen older historical sources is not accurate.
Christianity has its roots in Judaism, the Abrahamic covenant which goes back to Abraham - more than 3000 years. Unlike Egyptian mythology, Judaism still exists today. It never "ceased" and Christianity is merely the fulfillment of the promises God made to Abraham in the Old Covenant (Testament). Believers in Jesus as the Messiah continued the faith in the ONE God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, which much later became labeled as Christianity.

The teachings of Jesus, Paul, and the Apostles where all from the Hebrew Tanakh (Jewish Bible). Why wouldn't they be since they were Jews? If you remove all of the Old Testament references from the New Testament, you will lose the foundation of Christianity. Every where Jesus or Paul refers to "the written word" or "the scriptures" it is talking about the Hebrew scriptures - there was no New Testament at the time since it hadn't been written yet. You cannot separate Christianity from Judaism. This faith has survived and thrived well over 3000 years and will continue to do so. It will only be a fairy tale in the minds of those who reject it. The non-believers have existed equally as long and will continue until Christ returns.
