Is it possible for a christian to argue their faith without using specific quotes from the bible? Would they be limited to their personal revelation and/or experiences?
Is this akin to asking Atheists to argue their viewpoint without using scientific knowledge?
I quite like a decent two-sided debate, but it seems like christianity (and pretty much every other religion) has the foundation of its argumentative justification set upon their holy texts, which are almost always riddled with contradictions and fuzzy logic that is outdated by several millennia.
EDIT - by 'scientific knowledge' I was trying to convey instances such as a hypothetical atheist using geology to prove the world was older than 6000 years old. I wasn't trying to imply that every atheist applies scientific method to their debate.
I'm not an Atheist by the way. It was just implied by the question. Thank you for the replies from all sides so far, it gives me faith in enlightened discussion despite the circular, intractable arguments that you seem to see a lot here.
