The Teachings Of Jesus and Paul? Is Christian Preachers Revisiting The Old Covenant Law Of Tithing Countering The Teachings Of Jesus and Paul?
- The Law and Melchizedek are done away for something far more excellent in the person of God’s son, the man Christ Jesus, the only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5).
Because many preachers accept the gosepel and epistles of Paul, why is tithing taught in the present day Christian church as an obligation or added to verses about cheerful giving?
- Also tithing "Storehouse" giving was a concept that started in the 19th century in a church in Cincinatti Ohio and was not a widespread practice until that point in the church
* Why are there so many misteachings and misconceptions in Christianity regarding things spoken of plainly in the gospel by Christ and the espistles?
I have to problem with giving or offering. I understand. I love this act. But trying to understand the concept of how and why christian churches teach the tithe in an obligatory reference to the law.
I understand the power of giving through the story of Elijah and the Woman in the 1st book of Kings
The woman trusted Elijah and did as he said. Sure enough, there was food for Elijah and for her family. Just as Elijah said, God continued to give flour and oil so that it never ran out! Some time later, the woman’s son became very sick. He continued to get worse and worse until he stopped breathing! The woman asked Elijah why this had happened to her. Elijah carried the son upstairs and cried out to God for help. He stretched his arms over the
child three times and asked God to revive the child. God heard Elijah’s prayer and brought the boy back to life. When the woman saw her son
alive, she told Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God and that you speak the truth from God.”
Elijah helped that woman and her son know that God was the only true God. She trusted in
God and knew that His ways were the best. She saw first hand how God took care of her needs (with
flour and water and reviving her son). She could tell others of God’s amazing power and love.
@andrrew a .. Your reply out of context and that particular verse is speaking of the hypocrisy of that present day religious leaders. They received the tithe from the people but were hypocritical in their tithing.
