Is catching fish with a hook painful for them?

I am 15. I am going fishing with my family for the first time in a boat. I think catching fish looks fun. But I am worried if catching fish with a hook for them is painful. I have feelings for them. I want to catch fish but not make it painful for them.

Now seriously. Fish have a very thin layer of nerves on their mouths/lips and you can sometimes hook them with slack line and they don't know they're hooked until they feel the pressure of the tight line.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!

they don't have nerves in the mouth but if the hook goes real deep you can hurt them
