Is CarFax report really important when selling a car?

So last year I bought a car from my brother. It is in great condition and drives well I have maintained it as needed. I now have a child and need something better for a family. The thing is my car is not worth much on trade-in because the carfax report has one accident on it.

I asked my brother and basically it was a simple fender-bender that was cheaper to claim on insurance then to repair alone. Now this is reported on CarFax and diminishes the value of the car! Air bags were not deployed and no major repairs were needed.

How do I get my money's worth when selling this car or trading it in? It seems like everyone depends on carfax nowadays!
How is CarFax so important if a minor fender-bender did nothing to the car. It loses thousands of dollars in value because of a little bump?! Plus, CarFax says an airbag may have been deployed- it wasn't in this case and saying that scares buyers away!
