I was recently offered a position with a painting company, canvassing. Going door to door, knocking/ringing the bell, talking to the person, leaving flyers, etc.. I have a couple questions though.
They said they pay with a 1099 form. I'm not familiar with taxes at all, but I know there has to be some reason they do this. Is it to release any liability from the company if I get caught doing something illegal? (soliciting). I live in the suburbs of Kansas City (Johnson County- very nice place) and I don't know what the laws are in reference to canvassing. They offer very generous pay, $15/hr (keep in mind I just graduated high school and am taking a semester off to find out what I want to do - as well as simply taking a break from the grind).
Thank you so much!
