Is buying a phone from Ebay safe?

I broke my phone last night & not up for my 2 year discounted cell phone price with Verizon wireless, so right now I'm trying to figure out what to do, either buy a used phone or call Verizon & pretend that I'm going to cancel their services & see if they will break me a deal.

Anyway, thinking about buying a cell phone from Ebay, is this ok?
I am just questioning the phones condition & also want to make sure it's not stolen & someone trying to make a quick buck.

I bought my phone from Ebay. However, I bought from an Ebay shop. I wouldn't preferably buy a phone off someone else, incase it was stolen or broken. Especially paying a lot of money for it, I would want to make sure it was okay!

If I were you I would buy from an Ebay shop, rather than just of someone!
