Is buying a cat through the net a bad idea?

Especially since the seller has asked me to phone him.
I really like this cat but I've got no intention of calling a complete stranger and it's long distance.
Well.. i'd love this cat. but would any of you call a stranger that you dont know at all? (its gonna be a long distance call)
@ cafe mocha: There arent any ragdolls where i live. And this is a solid chocolate bicolor
