...treated an excuse to stay home? I have a friend who is epileptic and was out of school because her medication was no longer working. Now she is on a new medication which is thankfully working perfectly. This new medication has very minimal side effects, she is healthy and full of energy, plus she hasn't had a seizure in a few weeks. Physically she is perfectly fine, but she is still being home schooled due to being "emotionally not ready to come back to school." Her new medication thankfully has no emotional side effects, and, as I'm sure you know, epilepsy, in most cases, does not effect emotions. She is physically fine, yet she still won't come back to school.
