Of course this ability will be attractive to some, detractive to others, just like all our other traits.
Poetry isn't usually considered an intellectually demanding exercise. Some folks think of it as a 'knack', while others picture us poets with a pencil in our mouth, our eyes staring into the distance as we search for a rhyme for 'ogre'. Few think of us as possessing vast storehouses of wisdom, with a vocabulary to match.
On the other hand, if you write poetry all the time, it is unattractive, because whoever might want to spend time with you isn't doing it to watch you write. They want to interact with you, not just watch you.
