Well, I do know there is talent involved, obviously, even though there are a great many people who seem to be famous for no reason. But we'll uhhh... not talk about that.
Anyway, I was watching this thing on YouTube that was about how my favourite band, Queen formed, and it involved a lot of "experimental" bands leading up to it, with a lot of people coming and going. And I thought, "it must feel amazing to know you stuck around, with the band that struck it big" and I also pondered, "it must feel awful to leave the band, that struck it big, to see them get the fame and you sit on the sidelines for life". And if you look at the biographies.. It's the story with so many bands. So how much of making it big in something actually have to do with just... sheer dumb luck?
Justin Bieber's story is so rare it's not funny... if you look at it objectively. I think a lot of people dislike him because they feel it should have happened for them.
I'm well aware of the factor of marketability. But that's nothing new. It's been like that as long as mass media has been around.
