Is Basketball Legend Mike D'Antoni American or Italian ?

What is his story ?
Some say he is born in italy and others say he is American of Italian background.. anyone know ?
 
He is both. He was born and raised in America but is also an Italian citizen.
The Italian government alows many Italian-Americans to get an Italian passport even if it was someone in their family was from Italy 100 years ago.. Lucky bastards !!
 
Basketball legend? I'm sure a coach gets that kind of moniker after winning a few titles...(ie Basketball Legend; Pat Riley, Phil Jackson, Gregg Popavich). Or after a coach has built up a a career winning record with more than 500 wins ...(ie Don Nelson, Jerry Sloan). D'Antoni's career record is 198-109.

BTW he has duel US & Italian Citizenship.
