Is autonomy part of North American law?

I'm doing a debate that euthanasia should be legalized for people with terminal illnesses in North America (I don't actually believe this but whatever). So I'm wondering if I can bring up autonomy (the right to self-government, like making your own decisions and stuff) as one of my points, does it have a place in North America? Like does the government believe autonomy should be practised?
