Is anyone else upset about the new mandatory data plans on Verizon?

I have been with Verizon for years because it has been the best option for me- don't lose service that often, everyone I know is on it so those calls are included and not really that many issues. But it feels like every year it gets way more expensive! Had to upgrade to extra minutes plan then add unlimited texting and now have to purchase a data plan for any phones that are good! It feels rediculous that I should HAVE to spend an extra $30 per phone each month for internet access when I already spend $60 a month for internet at home. Why are they doing this? Do other cell companies do this? Should I switch? What is your opinion on other companies- ATT, Sprint, etc. Live in TN moving to FL
