I'm looking at buying a metal detector to do some beach combing while on holiday. Having done a bit of research I know what brands are worthwhile and what to avoid. However, I've come across someone selling ex army metal detectors and wondered if these machines are any good for the hobbyist? does anyone know who manufactures them for the MOD?
