Is an electrical engineering degree good for fixing cars?

Is an electrical engineering degree as good for fixing cars like a mechanic as a mechanical degree (in engineering or not)? My dad said it pays more but you can fix cars and get your hands dirty, etc. and do more stuff. I'm just trying to find a school to go to after high school that will allow me to work on cars and the more money, obviously, the better. Help!
