Is aluminum alloy 6063 suitable for building a bicycle trailer?

I like the idea that aluminum is very cheap and very light, but I'm not sure if it would be able to carry the weight I would like. I would like to use the trailer to move up to ~300 pounds. How much weight could a 4' long piece of angle aluminum with 1/8th" thickness and 3/4th" legs support?
