Seeker Of Painful Truths

It seems to me that once your married and your sex life withers down from once having sex 3 time a week, to just once a month, to maybe a few times a year, that it means your sex life between each other is over, and nothing can bring it back.
It seems to me that all that advice that books and articles give couples is more like useless entertainment but not actually helpful to solving the problem.
For example, this one source of info stated that what helps better sex life in marriage by lighting candles and leaving notes of lovey dovey words around for your partner to read, and giving body massages. It even said that you can't just jump in the bed and expect to be horny and ready because it doesn't work like that.
Now here's the thing:
1) It actually does work like that for some people. All I need to see is naked wife and I'm well prepared to get busy right there.
2) Candles doesn't make me horny. It makes no sense why it would. How it would possibly make a womans vagina wet for action is beyond me.
3) Reading lovey dovey messages is cute, but doesn't make me horny. And for women, it may make them feel happy and loved, but not horny for action.
4) Giving body massages only makes me tired and sleepy, and usually relaxes her to sleep, but no sex action.
5) Receiving body massages only makes me relaxed and sleepy.
I mean who rights all that nonsense about how to better your sex life? Middle aged women who write fantasy romance novels?
it seems to me that once the husband and wife stop having sex, it usually because it's a done deal, they've exhausted their desires for each other and when they have sex, it's so rare that they have been reduced to driving on near empty.
Many times it's because one of them has always had a much higher libido that the other can;t keep up with. Over time, the one with teh higher libido gets bored and the sex life withers.
Thoughts?
