Is a used video game drive legal?

Our Junior class is doing a few get togethers this school year, that includes things like bowling nights. Those events are not paid for by the student fund as it's more geared toward things like school dances. For those events, we get discounts due to the large turnouts, we have one hundred students and usually, over half of us turn out. I've planned a fundraiser meant to reduce the individual cost for every student.

MY IDEA: Our school is somewhat of a 'geek' school (in a good kind of way) so we have a LOT of gamers and a lot of them have used video games. This includes games for PS2, Xbox 360,Xbox etc. The idea was for students to pitch in those games and for us to trade it in to various stores which give money for them. Of course, every individual game won't end up earning us much, but we have around one hundred students in our class and I'm positive a descent amount will donate at least one game (I intend to make it an advisory on advisory competition). So ultimately it'll add up to a lot of cash which can make those class hangouts cheaper. We've never done this type of fundraiser in our school, but I want to give it a shot.

A lot of stores like GameStop accept trades for cash.We won't overwhelm one store with 40 video games but we will be trading them in to various stores. I was asked to confirm if this type of fundraiser is legal considering students will be pitching in those games so we can 'sell' it.I've tried looking things up myself with no luck. Does anyone have any information on this or at least know where I can get information?

Thanks

(This is in Washington State if that's any help)
