Is a toyota prius REALLY as great as people say?

I currently have a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt...but in a few months I'm buying a new car. I've been concidering a Prius. I just want to know, what's all the hype about? Are they really great cars? I would really appreciate it if you could tell me about them, pros, cons, etc... Thank you:)
 
It's great if you want a clown-car that gets 28 mpg! NO! Horrible car, plus it's Japanese, so it is an unsafe, plastic, death trap! You're better off to stick with the cobalt. I'd go for something American, to keep jobs over here, maybe take a look at the new Ford Focus. They're cool, cost-efficient, and made right here in the U.S.! Or maybe hold out untill they release a new car, that is really budget-friendly!
