I ask this because i've recently gotten a good deal on one earlier today. I also just got my permit and am ready to get on the street/track but not sure what bike to get. If you think this isn't a good bike to start with, then what suggestions do you have for me?
~thank you and merry christmas.
I just got a deal on it earlier today for about 3-5 grand. I am just wondering if I can control it because i've had no past experience.
I just turned 18
I just want a bike to get from A-B and have fun with my friends riding.

I could be wrong but to the best of my knowledge a GSX-R 650 does not exist, but I get what your saying, and I think your looking at a GSX-R 600

yes, this is a fine starter bike as long as you can control yourself and be responsible. This bike has a very high degree of performance and will be very capable at the track, which is a great place to take it. If you've got a good deal on it I'd go for it, but you should start on something older not something brand new, you didn't say how old it is but I would advise against paying more than $3000 for a first bike.

many will tell you that it's too powerful and to go for a 250, it's your money and if you think you can handle the responsibility don't waste your money on a 250. You can drive a fast bike slow but you can't drive a slow bike fast.

As for suggestions you need to take the MSF class and get your license, and the track is a great idea, I'm not sure about your area but around here you have to take a safety lesson your first time which is also great for a new rider.

good luck!
