Is a photography major difficult?

I would like to major in studio art with an emphais in photography and painting. I have no talent but I like it. Will this be extremely challenging, or is it more like a hobby?
 
Photography IS painting... it's just using light as your paint.

Enjoy the canvas as much as the subject and you will discover your creativity but going in with that attitude is defeatist already.

NEVER, EVER say you have no talent... prove you don't !!!

It's a great hobby and think of this: What is the single most traumatic possession loss in any disaster for a family other than life?

The Photos... everything else can be replaced.
 
It's a great hobby, but very few photographers make much money. It will be a fun major for you if you are okay with being severely introspective, there really are no boundaries in art classes, especially in private colleges. If you have had a traumatic past, it's not the field to go in.

If you know you aren't talented in it, which might be your opinion or someone else's, then I would suggest focusing on something you are talented in because photography is extremely competitive and it's all about who you know.

The business of photography is very challenging ... if you go to the right school, the major will be very difficult.

Photography is something that is quite difficult, and often you need some measure of natural talent to be able to go anywhere in the photo world.
Not only do you need to know how to correctly expose your film, you must also be able to develop it and print it correctly.
Or, with digital, you must be excellent with Photoshop and still be able to correctly expose the CCD/CMOS/MOS.
