Is a photography major a good idea?

It's a good idea if you want to starve.

Most of the money to be made in photography is in portraits and bridal photography. Journalism is there too, but that whole industry is in decline.

I still have loads of time to think about it. But I was wondering if it would be a good or bad idea. Would I be able to have a steady job? Thanks! :D
