is a negative pregnancy test possible when the placenta is still inside the mothers body... but no longer attached??

I suffered a miscarriage a few months ago and my tests have been showing negative for a month now. However i passed what looked like the placenta the other night.

I was told it couldnt be the placenta as my tests would have shown positive is that was still in my body.

Someone else told me thats not true. I COULD have a negative result with the placenta still inside me as long as it wasnt attached?
The hospital said i didnt need a scan as my tests were negative. Now though i think they are clueless. I really believe it was the placenta. it wasnt that big. I was only 8 weeks pregnant when the miscarriage happened.

yes i think if it wasnt attached you could show a negitive result and if u passed something that big then i would also be speaking to the hos where u were as they should have checked there was nothing left i would be getting an ultrasound!!!
