Is a Mazda Rx8 a good car to buy?

I'm looking into buying a used 2007 Mazda Rx8 that has 45,000 miles on it. I really like the car, but I don't know much about cars. Is this a reliable car? What are the pros and cons?

one thing you better check when buying an RX-8 is your own local mazda dealer network. the RX-8 has a rotary engine, which is a far different engine from the typical piston engine, and in some places, mechanics experienced in servicing the rotary engine is pretty rare. at 45k miles i'd make sure i have maintenance people around the area that i live in - 22.5k miles per year ain't a joke, that's a lot to run in a year. plus, the 1.3L engine displacement doesn't translate into good fuel mileage, again because it's a rotary. it does about the same as a 2.5L or 3.0L piston engine in terms of fuel mileage.

other than that, mazda's are typically reliable, provided you care for it.

RX8 is not very fuel efficient and has the tendency to burn motor oil. That is one of the reasons why I didn't get one myself. For the price, I believe there are better alternatives in terms of reliability, performance and luxury.

I guess it depends on lots of factors like where you live and how much you will use the car. These are small lightweight cars and probably suck in the snow. If you live in the north I would skip this car. Otherwise I have not heard anything bad about these cars.
