I've had this since before I can remember (I'm 20 now) so I used to assume it was normal, but when people poke me in these areas and I say it really hurts, they're often very surprised, like it wouldn't hurt them.
It's not quite as bad with blunt pressure from a large object, but very painful if the pressure's focused on a small area. If someone pinches my upper arms or thighs it really hurts too. On my back certain areas don't seem to do it, while others are very painful.
At first it won't feel like much at all, but then over a period of about 5 seconds (even if the pressure was removed immediately) the pain gets a lot worse and it spreads through that muscle, then very slowly fades over about 30 seconds.
I'm also not entirely sure if this is normal, but I sometimes get a really bad kind of pins and needles where the pricks I feel aren't as sharp, but it's extremely painful and I can't move that bit of my body or even slightly tense any of the muscles without sending waves of pain through it... That's what this pain when someone pokes me in these areas feels like.
Obviously if there's more pressure it lasts longer, but I would have thought that's perfectly normal if it was enough force to hurt anyway.
Does anyone else get this (or, I suppose more interestingly, not get it)?
Thanks!
Sorry, I just read it back and realised the bit about the pins and needles is misleading - when I've been poked, I can move it without making the pain worse, I just meant it's the same kind of pain, i.e. not stabbing/throbbing/etc..
