Friends and I have received Grand Jury subpoenas by regular U.S mail for witness and we do not want to be involved . Will bench warrants be issued if we do not comply or do the subpoenas have to be handed to us to be valid in NY state ?
A friend was arrested and for something stupid and the prosecutor is trying to turn all of us which are lifetime friends on each other. We keep telling her " we didnt see anything " but she keeps threatening all of us that she is going to charge us crimes when we didnt do. We do not want to go in front of the Grand Jury as WITNESSES against our friend. We have only received the subpoenas by regular US mail .My friends criminal atty said to stay away from the DA. My main question is does the subpoenas have to be handed to us to be valid or will we receive bench warrants for not complying . NEW YORK STATE
He did not do anything but the DA is insisting he did he was in a fight and was attacked and they never arrested the attackers but arrested him
One victim is also saying it wasnt him but the are also trying to subpoena the victim and threaten the victim with contempt
