Is a Ford Taurus s 1999 a good car?

I'm 16 and looking to buy a car. There's this cute little Ford Taurus down at the local auto dealers, and it looks like it's in good shape at a decent price. Is this car a piece of crap, or should I go ahead and buy it? Thanks in advance! :)
 
It's unexciting and ordinary. Make sure you get one with the AX4N transmission (usually found the in 3.0L DOHC engine, but sometimes in the base 3.0L OHV as well). The earlier AX4S transmissions have a habit of crapping out around the 100k-120k mile mark. Keep in mind there are literally millions of these cars around so you can bargain pretty aggressively with the seller.
 
i have an 05 taurus, and i used to own an 87. they are decent cars. mine have been very dependable and comfortable. but beware it is a large sedan gas mileage is in the toilet your realistically looking at 16 mpg in city. and they do not make it easy to install a stereo(so hopefully it already has a cd player). and make sure you go with the six cylinder. they make a 4 cylinder but it is so underpowered the car will struggle up steep hills.
