is a ford escape a good suv?

Right now I own a Chevy Cobalt. I want an SUV because I live in PA and our winters can get pretty bad - and I travel quite a bit for college and need an SUV for the future (kids, etc.) Is a Ford Escape a good kind-of small SUV? I don't want anything huge like a Tahoe for example.

Yes I heard they are good but, I would recommend a Mercury Mariner b/c they more luxurious than an Escape and they cost about the same.

they are horrible vehicles. i live in wv and are winters are really bad and my buddy has one that is 4wd and he wont drive it in the winter because it gets stuck so easy. you might want to try a chevy Equinox or something that is all whelle drive.
